We are swimming right now (my laptop floats JK) This is a Nazi facility and they require special shoes that you have to rent to walk into the pool. They require that you bring shampoo and soap and take a full shower before you enter the precious water. It is not really kid friendly with the ropes for swimming laps. We are having the time of our lives (weak sarcastic smile) I can't believe Dave is going home in 2 days (more than a tinge of jealousy)
I told you the pool place was run by Nazi's didn't I? I think it is the most un-user friendly place I've ever been too! And the water was FREEZING and my oh my Ukrainian women have NO sense of privacy! They'd shower, dry off and wrap the towel on their head and prance around without a stick of clothing on through the locker room- uhh....yuck?
ReplyDeleteAnd as for the pig comment. Welcome to a life of brutal honesty. Alex told me within two weeks of getting home that he thought my new sundress was "no look cute" and when I got my hair permed he asked me "when yous hair be normal? I no like." The few words they have they don't mince! (We got home the week before mothers day and my older kids didn't give me anything-the younger kids had made things in school & primary. When Alex saw I didn't get gifts from my teenagers he asked them "You no love mama?" Ouch!)The worst is when Alex points out that his sister has a zit. Yep, brutally honest.
Besides-giving how much THEY can put away the food I bet being called a pig is complimentary? At least for boys?
Sorry, that's the best I can come up with on the pig issue. We started early and we still go over being kind. The problem is the things they say they don't interpret as unkind-just an obvious fact-like the zit on my daughters face.
Okay-so I go to the gym five days a week and in Ukraine besides walking for hours on end-I got very little exercise. James rough housed a few times with the kids at the orphanage but we didn't see runners or bikers. Amy and I found a hideous gym in Kiev that was outdoors and looked like a prison yard with homemade weight equipment. We didn't even attempt a visit. So, I know what you mean about loss of muscle.
However, I do recall getting my heart rate up the day Alex decided he could surf on his feet down this steep hill in the park and ended up on his belly sliding down the hill and almost slamming into a tree head first. But besides my walks to the orphanage and then the daily walk from store to restaurant to store to orphanage and an occasional jump over a gaping pot hole or jutted piece of concrete-that was it!
Great pictures! Just one more day and court!!! Hurray!!
Okay. My comment didn't post again and it was a long winded one. Let's see if posting this second comment will magically make it appear?
ReplyDeleteDid you jump off that very HIGH diving platform in the background? :)
ReplyDeleteWanted to wish you luck for court tomorrow! We will be thinking about you. How exciting - it's finally here!!! We can't wait to read all about it!
ReplyDeleteYour posts made me chuckle. I love your sense of humor. I well remember the pool. We visited several times. Did they still have that glass platform thing in the water to make a shallow end? Thanks for a good laugh today and best of luck with court tomorrow.
