Lenin

I am not a historian and so I am not too familiar with what Lenin did for the good of Russia and Ukraine (I think he unified the USSR and promoted Communism) but there are TONS of statues of him in both countries. I have to wonder if he had them built of himself when he was here or if they were all built as a tribute later. People still think he was awesome. I think it is also funny that John Lennon has a big memorial in Central Park. I guess with that name you will not be forgotten.

Above are some pictures of Vitaly in front of a huge Statue of Lenin.

  1. You are right. Lenin was the leader of the Bolshevik revolution of 1917, which successfully defeated the then-current government, and constituted the first Communist-ruled state in the world: the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). After Lenin's death in 1924, Stalin took over, and became the most evil dictator of all time. The most heart-wrenching history about Ukraine is 'The Holodomor', where more people died from Stalin's famine than during the entire Holocaust. Many Ukrainians believe that Lenin had the purest of intentions when creating his socialistic society, and still believe today that he was a hero. They also believe that had Stalin not come into power, the region would be the world power today. But look where socialism leads. History speaks for itself. D&C 121:39 also speaks for itself.
