This picture was a almost 10 30 pm It is really light here for a long time. It is almost midnight and finally dark. Good night.
The apt where Tyler lived while here as a missionary
a guy pumping water. The only source for some of the shack type houses here.
Kind of a trashy area.

Christy!! Come back!! Dniprodzerzhinsk misses you and I KNOW you miss it! LOL I am so jealous of your Moscow pictures. There you are with your luxurious washcloths and clean linens (which I bet were dried in the dryer) Lucky you.
ReplyDeleteMy blog has turned to Russian language and I can't figure out how to post on it now. (Lame I know, but I seriously can't)
I am utterly disgustingly bored to tears now. We went out back to the little area behind the apartment which has some playground stuff from the 1920s and some blacktop. The boys had a soccer ball and some kid came up and tried to take it from Ian. Ian immediately took after him and caught him and grabbed him by the back of the neck and took the ball back. The kid then proceeded to pick up a 10" long piece of broken window glass and tell him he was going to cut Ian's wrists first and then his throat and kill him. As I watched in horror, I all the time screaming "No, just give him the ball! No, Ian come here!!" Ian then slaps the glass out of his hand and shoves him to the ground. Then the kid starts after him again and I just screamed DOME! DOME! DOME! and we all ran inside. Good Times!
So needless to say, I have avoided the outside rec area until tonight. We bought some squirt guns and since there was not one person out there, we thought it safe to go play for a bit. Of course, the minute I get to the bench some old man smoking a cig comes up with his basset hound and starts yaking away in Russian, I told him we didn't understand but that didn't matter to him. He was very pushy and insisted that we have a conversation charade style for about an hour straight. All the while the dog was eating a dirty diaper and mosquitos were biting us to death and I had to have smoked a pack of cigs secondhand. Soooo....yeah, I am just about ready to crack.
We thought about Crimea, but decided we are tired and just want to be lazy. We will keep going to Dnipropetrovsk to escape and that is it.
We miss you guys so much! Call if you can!
Sonya
I love the pictures and the tour of Russia that you are giving us. This is so much fun. My favorite pictures were the red hair and the twins. I don't know why but the twins made me laugh. They seem like they should be in an Adam Sandler movie. Poor Sonya seems like she is missing you and having a rough time. Tell her we are thinking about her.
ReplyDeleteOh, my heck! I'm glad I clicked on the comments! Sonya you are cracking me up! I'm so sorry about the man and the cigarette but the dog eating the diaper was killing me!
ReplyDeleteAnd that red hair lady Christy? Yet another reason to avoid hair stylist in Ukraine!
Oh, blog world will be so boring when you guys get back! I sure hope some of the new families blog!
