pics of Kiev

My "new " shoes from the market (cost $6)
and the cathedral right next to the SDA. We think it is St Andrew's. We are probably going to give Vitaly the name Andrew for his American name (not because we love the SDA so much.) We do love Andrew Garrett though.

  2. Ha, ha....we went to an outdoor market too. titled it something like The Great Ukraine Outdoor DI. Everything was used and just in big piles on tables with the sales people sitting around smoking & acting angry or grumpy. (I did find a cool Russian fur hat and Oxana found a purse and clothes she sent to her Mom.)
I like your shoes. I hope they hold up better than the purse I bought there-I did buy my purse new and it lasted about as long as my Ukraine adventure. I actually left it in Ukraine for Amy as she didn't have a purse and I wouldn't be there to hold her gryvna's anymore in my purse! (Yep, we were close like that-don't know what I would have done without her!)
I am glad the Corbetts are there with you. It really helps to have other American's with you.
I like the name Andrew. We have so many Alex's that it's hard to keep them straight. When we go to lunch Arnolds, Lawrences and I have an Alex and then Ann's husband is named Alex!
What about Oleg? Are you keeping his name? Maybe Ollie? (I'm kidding of course!)
I think Vitaly is a cute name as well but it would be a hard one for assimilating in school.(Of course not as bad as Volva-not sure I'm spelling that right but yes-it sounds exactly like part of a woman's anatomy. The first time I heard Alex say it-he's a friend from the other Dnipro orphanage being adopted-I said it back to him more like Valva and he corrected me-"No, Volva Mom!" Yikes. That names has got to be changed!)
