OH boy

We just had a visit with the mom and daughter (Marina) who we had dinner with the other night. They were very nice and came to our house and wanted to talk to us. They said that they have been fasting for 2 days that Alina will go with us and that they feel it is God's will that she go. They said that they want to talk to Alina and try to get her to be adopted. We kind of said "go for it" The Mom said that she had a dream that had her and her husband in it and then in the dream she saw in herself her daughter Marina and in her husband she saw our family. When she woke up she started to think about the dream. She said that she didn't want her daughter to marry an American if we have bad credit problems in America.

Tyler started turning red at this point as he translated. We were getting more nervous by the minute. Then she offered to send Marina to America for a few months to live with us to help Alina get accustomed to our culture etc. We told them that we would need to pray about it and get our own answers on the matter. Tyler is feeling kind of sick today.

They also said that they felt that Ruslana and Anya should go to the American family too. The mom went as far as to tell the family that is trying to adopt them that they were not the right ones for the girls. So Meyers maybe they will take her advice and drop the whole thing, who knows. When Marina talked to Ruslana she told her to pray and find out God's will for herself.

We explained how we felt about free agency and that we knew that Alina has the right to choose for herself. We are not closing the door but we will see what happens next. We were humbled by their sincerity. We told them that a lot of people are praying that God's will will happen and we know that it will.

  1. I have been watching your blog with a lot of understanding of what you are going through. When we were adopting Tania and Sasha it took Sahsa 4 days to even sign a letter stating the he wanted to be adopted. We were never sure if he was going to say that he wanted to be adopted until we actually got to court and he did say yes. He has told us since that he almost said no. I do believe that it was a blessing in disguise when it took us 3 weeks to get a court date. I think it gave Sasha time to become more comfortable with us. So your being a week behind may be the best part of your trip.

I am glad that you haven't given up on Alina completely. It breaks my heart to hear that other people think that she would have a better life in Ukraine than with you. Having a family is so important.

You might want to bring some of this fancy smelling toilet paper home as a souvenir. We only had the crepe paper toilet paper. My husband wanted to bring a bunch home to give to his buddies at work but I wouldn't let him.
