October Baby

I would like to recommend the movie October Baby for other families to watch. We watched it as a family and one of our adopted boys was really affected by it. He cried for about an hour after the movie and it really helped him to let out some of the pain that he has been storing in his heart. It is about a girl who was born after she was a failed abortion. It deals with issues like abandonment, adoption and abortion and the pain and challenges that accompany each. Great movie, stock up on tissues first.

  1. Christy,

What age is this movie appropriate for viewing? My adopted children are 18, 13, and 11. My youngest biological child is 9 years old. Would this be appropriate for all those ages?

  2. My wife and I watched this movie last night. Even I shed a few tears. What an amazing movie about hope, hurt and forgiveness. THANK YOU for recommending it. Our next goal is to get Yuliya to watch it. These kids have baggage that they so often stuff down in their hearts. There comes a time when they need to let it go and heal. Doing that requires the love of God to enter in.

Anne, it is age appropriate for all ages 9 and up. It is PG-13 because it deals with the sensitive issue of abortion, but in my opinion, EVERY girl needs to see this movie. There is no sex, graphic stuff...not even any kissing! :)

  3. I think it was produced by a religious pro-life group. Our 8 year old watched it and was fine. The son who deals with abandonment issues was the most affected. I agree with Andreas, all girls and teenagers for that matter should see it.
